There are no official build shifts. If you are onsite and the build is happening, congratulations you are part of the build team!
A typical day building will look like this:
Wake up, Eat, Meet, Build
Mid-day Break (from the heat), Eat, Rest
Evening Build Again
Eat Dinner
Build Again
Sleep and Repeat
Build Crew Coordination (Set up Lead)
Help setup and teardown camp. Setup crew need to come 3-5 days before gates open, and teardown crew need to stay Monday 9/4
Build Crew Coordination (Tear Down Lead)
Help setup and teardown camp. Setup crew need to come 3-5 days before gates open, and teardown crew need to stay Monday 9/4
Deco
Make it pretty!
Lighting
Prepare lighting throughout camp! make it beautiful and safe!
Shade Systems
Make it shady! Lead build crew for tent city shade/ bar and other smaller shade areas in camp (not dining room/frontage/lounge). Do not need to be particularly handy, but able to learn and teach a simple system and lead a small but mighty team!
General Strike Lead
Oversee Strike starting on Sunday (for those departing early, have a birds eye understanding of all the *non* frontage materials that need to be struck
Last Standing (Last on Playa)
Final team on site for last trash, closing up containers, final moop sweeps.
Leave No Trace
Encourage LNT throughout camp/pre-event in planning meetings. Make sure that we're prepared with tarps/rakes/magnets and help encourage moop sweeps during the event/train the MOOP SWEEP volunteers. Support build with LNT perspective (tarps, etc).
Check Out (People) Lead (post-event)
Visually inspect each camp/tentsite as people are leaving and make sure that all MOOP has been swept
Sound & Audio Team
Make it sound good! Front of camp.
MRU (set-up/strike)
Deploy the Mobile Resource Unit, a multi-purpose support vessel for camp operations and playa projects including artists and BLAST & RAT teams.
