BWB camp has a special fire pit—Did you know it's the only open fire pit of its size allowed on Esplanade?
The fire pit is one of our camp's treasured historic relics that traveled back to the desert with us after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
We all need to be making sure our fire pit stays safe. People have put all types of silly things in there, including an entire foam mattress, causing an awful, toxic stench and major injury to someone trying to remove it. So, don’t put weird shit in the fire, and more importantly, don’t let any passersby put weird shit in the fire.
If you’re the last BWB member around the burn pit, please never leave the fire unattended. There should always be a hose, a 5-gallon bucket full of water, and a fire extinguisher all within 20ft.
We typically have our first fire on Monday night when the gates open and our last fire on Monday night of strike.
We have three shifts throughout the night and encourage our fire-loving night owls to sign up!
The Fire Starter: Sunset to 11p (after dinner)
The Fire Tender: 11p to 1am
The Fire Extinguisher: 1 am to 3a (or when you get tired)
